Page Mix

A Shopify landing page builder that starts from pages you like

Paste a link for the layout and a link for the look. Page Mix builds an editable landing page in your own Shopify theme, so you aren't starting from a blank canvas or waiting weeks for a developer.

Why landing pages are slow to build

Most Shopify landing pages are built one of three ways: by stretching the sections your theme already has, by dragging blocks around in a page builder app, or by paying a developer to write custom Liquid. The first is quick but every page ends up looking like your theme's demo. The second needs hours of layout work per page. The third gives the best result and takes the longest.

Most of that time goes on decisions you've often already made. You've usually seen pages whose structure and style you like: a competitor's product page, a brand you admire, a page you saved for inspiration. Page Mix starts from those references instead of from nothing.

How it works

  1. Upload your theme once. Export it from Shopify (Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Download theme file) and upload the ZIP. It must be an Online Store 2.0 theme with JSON templates, such as Dawn or most current Theme Store themes.
  2. Add two reference links. The first sets the layout: which kinds of sections appear and in what order. The second sets the look: typography, colours, buttons, cards and spacing.
  3. Wait about 15 to 25 minutes. Page Mix rebuilds the layout as Shopify sections in the referenced style, adds them to your theme, and checks that the page renders, works on mobile and passes theme validation.
  4. Download your theme with the page added. Your original files are kept. The new page is a template you choose for any product.

In Shopify, a product landing page is a product template: send ad or email traffic to the product's URL and visitors see the page you assigned to it. The buy box is wired to the real product, so variants, prices and add to cart work without extra setup.

What you get, and what you'll still do

You get native theme files: Liquid sections, a JSON template and a stylesheet, added to your theme. There's no app script on your storefront and nothing to uninstall later. Every section's settings are editable in Shopify's theme editor.

The page is a blank template. It takes none of the references' text, images, logos or branding, so you fill in your own copy and photos. After downloading:

  1. Upload the ZIP under Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file. It arrives as an unpublished copy of your theme, so your live store doesn't change.
  2. Preview, then publish that theme when you're happy with it. Shopify only offers templates from the published theme in the product editor.
  3. Assign the template: open a product, choose the new template under Theme template and save. For many products at once, use Shopify's bulk editor.
  4. Add your content in the theme editor: every headline, paragraph, image and button label starts as a placeholder.

When it's a good fit, and when it isn't

Good fit: you know what you want a page to look like, you have a reference or two, and you'd rather edit a finished layout than design one. It's also a quick way to get several directions for the same page before picking one. See creating test variations.

Not a good fit:

  • You want a drag-and-drop editor to keep rearranging pages. Page Mix delivers a page; later edits happen in Shopify's theme editor or in code.
  • Your theme is a vintage (pre-Online Store 2.0) theme without JSON templates.
  • You need a blog post, a lead-capture form or a page type other than a product page, homepage or about page.
  • Your references are behind a login, or the site blocks automated visits. Some do; if so you'll see a clear message, and credits are given back if nothing is delivered.

Common questions

Do I need to code?

No. You upload a ZIP, assign a template and fill in content in the theme editor. Liquid knowledge helps only if you want to change a section beyond its settings.

Is this a Shopify app?

No. Page Mix is a web app that edits a copy of your theme. You install the result as a theme, so it doesn't run on your storefront or need store permissions.

How much does it cost?

Plans start at £50 a month for 3 credits, enough for one Magic Remix. See pricing.
