Clone, duplicate or remix?
| What it means | Can you do it? | |
|---|---|---|
| Duplicate | Copy a theme in your own store, usually to edit safely before publishing. | Yes, built into Shopify: Online Store → Themes → ⋯ → Duplicate. |
| Clone another store | Copy someone else's theme files, text and images. | No, not legitimately. A store's theme code isn't downloadable, and its copy, photos and branding belong to that business. |
| Remix a design | Rebuild a page's layout and style as new, blank sections for your own content. | Yes. This is what Page Mix does. |
Most people searching for a "Shopify theme clone tool" want the third: a page that works like one they've seen, in their own store, without weeks of design work.
How Page Mix recreates a design
You give Page Mix your theme ZIP and two links. It opens the first link, works out the structure of the page (the kinds of sections and their order), and rebuilds that structure as Shopify sections. It takes typography, colours, button shapes and spacing from the second link. The result is added to your own theme as a new template.
Page Mix never has access to any store's theme code. It works from the public page, as a visitor sees it, and it leaves the content behind: every headline, paragraph and image is a placeholder you replace.
Why remixing beats copying anyway
- It's yours. New sections with your content, rather than another brand's page with the names swapped.
- It works in your theme. Built for your theme's settings, cart and products, with a working buy box.
- It's editable. Every block is a setting in the theme editor, not a frozen copy of someone else's HTML.
- You can mix. Take one site's structure and another's style, or get up to 3 style versions to compare.
