What a product page template is
Shopify themes render every product with a product template. Most stores use one default template for everything. You can add more, such as one for a hero product with a long-form sales page, and choose which template each product uses. Shopify's documentation covers creating and assigning templates; our guide to custom product templates walks through it.
Page Mix creates one of those templates for you, with its own sections, so it doesn't change how your other products look.
Choosing your two references
Link 1: the layout
Pick a product page whose structure you want: for example a gallery and buy box, then benefits, a comparison, reviews, FAQs and a closing call to action. Page Mix rebuilds those kinds of sections, in that order, with placeholders.
Link 2: the style
Pick a page whose look you want: type, colours, button shapes, cards and spacing. It's measured for general styling only. It doesn't have to be a product page or in your niche.
What's in the template
- A working buy box: variant pickers, price and add to cart, wired to whichever product uses the template.
- Editable sections: each headline, text block, image and button label is a setting in the theme editor, starting as a placeholder like Insert headline.
- Its own styles: a stylesheet scoped to the new sections, so your theme's other pages are untouched.
- No borrowed content: none of the references' text, images, logos or claims.
Before you download, the page is checked to make sure each section renders in order and works on mobile, and the whole theme is validated.
Style versions and extra versions
A Magic Remix costs 3 credits whether you ask for 1 or 3 style versions. Each version keeps the same layout with a different take on the style, which is a quick way to compare directions or to get variations to test. Later, Another version reuses the rebuilt layout for 1 credit and is much quicker than a new build.
After you download
- Upload the ZIP under Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file. It arrives as an unpublished copy of your theme, so your live store doesn't change.
- Preview, then publish that theme when you're happy with it. Shopify only offers templates from the published theme in the product editor.
- Assign the template: open a product, choose the new template under Theme template and save. For many products at once, use Shopify's bulk editor.
- Add your content in the theme editor: every headline, paragraph, image and button label starts as a placeholder.
Limits worth knowing
- Your theme must be Online Store 2.0 (JSON templates) and its ZIP under Shopify's 50 MB limit.
- A build usually takes 15 to 25 minutes.
- Apps that add blocks to your current product page (reviews, subscriptions, upsells) aren't added to the new template automatically. Add their app blocks in the theme editor after you assign it.
- The result follows your references' layout and style closely but not pixel for pixel, and it's built for your content, not theirs.
